Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays because it’s the time I could dress up as a different person for the evening. I have always loved making my own costumes. However, this year I have been so busy with work that I did not have much time to make one. Instead of going out and buying something at the Halloween store, I figured I would get a bit creative with items I had in my closet.
This year I wanted to channel something along the lines of Studio 54 glam. I drew my inspiration from the movie American Hustle. I have always been obsessed with the 70s. In my opinion, it is one of the best eras in style. I mean, who doesn’t get mesmerized by the disco glam, big hair and sky high heels?
Nothing screams disco queen more than Halston. Halston was a very popular brand for the it girls of the 70s. Their style just screams glamour at the disco. I had this Halston Heritage gown in my closet that fit the bill for a night at the disco.
I tried my best at recreating the disco curls. It was actually quite simple! I used a small barrel iron, almost an entire can of hairspray, and a teasing comb. Creating the look was a lot of fun, but I’m not going to lie, washing it out was a bit of a hassle!
Did you dress up for any Halloween parties over the weekend? Or are you dressing up tonight? Let me know what you’re going to be in the comments!
