On my trip to the Philippines, I had the pleasure of visiting the island of Palawan. Conde Nast names El Nido, Palawan number one in both islands and beaches in the entire world. After wandering off to El Nido’s secluded islands, white sand beaches with turquoise waters and their many lagoons, it’s not too hard to understand why they came to that conclusion.
Getting to El Nido can be tricky. There were plenty of flights to Puerto Princesa, but you would need to take a 6+ hour van to actually get to El Nido. Most of the roads are not paved. I did not want to waste my time traveling, so I got a private plane service to take us directly to Lio Airport which is in El Nido. Upon landing, you’re whisked off to the most charming baggage claim area.
Once we got to our hotel, we immediately found a company to take us on a private boat tour of the islands. The first tour we went on had taken us to the big and small lagoons. Because I was so excited to go out exploring, I forgot a few things. I didn’t think to wear a bathing suit on the first boat tour. Instead I stepped out with my Tiare Hawaii backless dress. Also, I forgot my waterproof case so I wasn’t able to take photos while I was out kayaking. However, the whole experience will not be forgotten. It reminded me of a page right out of Peter Pan, just pure magic. It’s stunning turquoise waters were so calm and clear you could see all the brightly colored fish underneath you.
During the tour, we were treated to a delicious beachside lunch with our feet literally in the water! On the second day while we went to Snake Island and during lunch a monkey that was creeping up close to steal our food. I was actually quite scared of the it because the monkey started snarling and showing it’s teeth. Despite the name, there are no snakes on the island. Snake Island gets its name from the S-curved sands that connect one side of the island to the other. Also the island has the warmest waters you can possibly swim in. I wore my favorite bikini from Mikoh. You can mix and match the top and bottom, but I went with black because it looks stunning with a tan.
My favorite way to end our days sightseeing was getting beached at the Seven Commandos Resort and watching the sunset with a drink in hand. The weather is always hot and the resort had unobstructed views of the sunset.
On the last day of the trip, we took it easy. I wore my ASOS dress because it was the perfect dress to lounge around in while taking a walk on El Nido’s pristine beaches.
If you ever get a chance to visit the Philippines, going to El Nido is an absolute must.
