As mentioned in my last post, I was in Tahoe for Labor Day weekend. However, a weekend in Tahoe wouldn’t be complete without hiking. My favorite place for an easy hike with incredible views would be Emerald Bay. Last time I went up to Emerald Bay, the roads were closed because of the snow as mentioned in this post. I always opt for something cute and casual when I’m in Tahoe. During the morning, it can get pretty cold, but luckily it’s still summer so when the sun’s out it heats up fairly quick. I hit up H&M before my trip and got this navy, flannel shirt and white shorts. The flannel was perfect to provide some warmth for the hike and it’s a great piece to transition to the fall. I can see myself wearing this a lot for the upcoming season.
If you hike all the way to the end, you come across a glorious mansion called the Vikingsholm. The home was built in 1929 as a summer home for a woman named Mrs. Lora Knight. A part of it’s wonder is her tea house that sits atop of an island on the lake. The only way you can get to the tea house is by a boat or kayaking. I wouldn’t even dare to swim to the island. The waters are absolutely freezing. I still haven’t made it to the top of the tea house, but maybe I’ll give it a go next summer.
