If there’s one thing that all my loved ones know about me, it’s the fact that I love wine. And it’s sparkling wine in particular. A few weekends ago, I got to visit Gloria Ferrer in Sonoma. I have had flute after flute of their sparkling wines, but this was my first time actually visiting the winery itself.
Upon the hillsides of Sonoma sits Gloria Ferrer’s winery and tasting room. Once we arrived, we checked in with the host and we were immediately whisked off to our table. The view from Gloria Ferrer’s outdoor terrace seating is something special. Not all views in Napa are made the same and Ferrer’s amazing view extended for miles. It’s truly spectacular.
Our wonderful host introduced herself and brought menu alongside some delicious chocolate ganache in different flavors for us to savor. The menu offers a variety of delicious snacks for you to nibble on while you do your tastings.
We had a variety of best sparkling to taste. I already knew I was going to bias towards their blanc de blancs. It’s usually my favorite. Crafted by chardonnay grapes, Gloria Ferrer’s Blanc de Blancs spends two and a half years on yeast. It’s my favorite The flavor enhances with age, but honestly, who can really wait to pop the cork?
While I am not a big rosé gal, I was wonderfully surprised at how it was not over powerfully sweet like most other rosé varieties on the market. The tasting was quite notable and if I were ever to reach for a rosé, Gloria Ferrer’s Brut Rosé would be it.
However, the one that takes the cake is their highly acclaimed Carneros Cuvee. You take one sip and the drink is literally like butter going down your throat. Ultra smooth and rich with enough bubbles to tickle your nose. And of course the wine is smooth, it comes from the finest fruits in their Carneros vineyard and aged for nearly a decade. You should know by now, all good things come with age. Carneros Cuvee does not disappoint.
Many thanks to Gloria Ferrer for hosting us!
