While in the Philippines, I had the unexpected pleasure of touring Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. It’s a project under construction by owner/architect Jerry Acuzar, whose goal is to buy and relocate the most beautiful and noteworthy Spanish colonial houses from the Philippines onto this picturesque strip of beach in Bataan.
Many of these houses were in disrepair at their original locations. One was even found disassembled at a pawn shop! Acuzar has a (growing) collection of houses that make for an impressive resort.
Oh yeah, that’s the best part…it’s a hotel! You can rent out an evening at these amazing homes!
My biggest regret of this whole vacation was not doing any research before I came here. You see, Bataan is my father’s hometown and I left it up to him to plan our itinerary while out there. There are a lot of hidden treasures and historical sites that I wish I read up about before coming to the Philippines. The locals and other people in-the-know take day tours to Las Casas, but the place still largely remains vacant and unknown. This is probably due to it’s ongoing construction. My dad mentioned nothing about this stop so my first introduction to this place was when I arrived at it’s gates. After the next few hours touring the grounds, I vowed to come back and stay at this resort in the future so that I could fully take advantage of all the wonderful things it has to offer.
I wore something light and breezy since I didn’t know where I was going, but I knew it was going to be hot.
My phone, sunglasses, and lipstick fit perfectly in this cute, straw Hello Kitty bag. I love it so much!
I mean could you get any more picture perfect than a white horse? Never mind that it’s a donkey.
At Las Casas you will find the staff in their period appropriate attire ready to serve you amazing food and drinks, pulling horse drawn carriages, operating trolleys or other period relevant recreations like soda stands, bakeries, pools, pool halls, dance clubs, all with an old fashioned theme. This place is like a Discovery Channel episode crossed with Disneyland crossed with a beach club. I have never experienced anything quite like it. When it’s completed, it will be a real winner.
