A few years ago I was tossing my coin into the Trevi Fountain in hopes that one day I would return to Rome. I definitely got my wish and I was back in Italy for a few weeks in May. If you need more outfit inspiration for Italy you can click on these links to see what I wore in Positano, Amalfi Coast, Venice and Florence. This week I will be covering my trip to Rome (also here is another outfit post I wore in Rome).
My first time in Rome I was with friends and we were totally playing it by ear. While I did go back and visit most of the main sites, I did my research on the best pizza and pasta. I definitely indulged in all the cacio e pepe that Rome had to offer!
My favorite part of Rome is the Trevi Fountain. However, if you want an epic shot of the site, you will need to visit early in the morning when it’s less crowded. I went midday after the Roman Forum and it’s quite hectic to get a good photo with yourself in it.
While I didn’t pack any heels on my Italy trip, I did bring in a good pair of sandals and flats. Since we were doing a lot of walking, I ended up having to buy moleskin. You can get lost in Rome and wonder where the day went, however the burn in your legs and blisters on feet will remind you where it went by the end of the day!
The only hitch was the weather. During our travels, it was either really hot or extremely cold with rain in the forecast. I did manage to put on a smile even though half the time I was either freezing and wet or burning up. If I could choose, I’d prefer to travel around in Europe when it’s sunny mainly because it’s not fun to run and find shade from the rain when you’re wearing sandals and a dress.
While I was fully aware of the weather situation, I didn’t want to pack a bulky coat. Also, you’re in Italy. You should dress chic has the Romans do! I packed this white textured blazer I got at Banana Republic Factory. I love white blazers since it’s the perfect addition to any outfit.
Have you ever visited Rome? What are your favorite things to do while there? Let me know in the comments!
